Mooroopna Secondary College’s Year 11 Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning literacy class made sandwiches as part of its reading and writing for practical purposes unit on the final day of term one.
Before making the sandwiches, students had to write recipes, write a shopping list and budget how much it would all cost.
The students had to work with a budget of $100 for the entire class.
They did tasks such as comparing the total cost between Woolworths and Coles.
The final meal was made up of ingredients including capsicum, pineapple, lettuce, beetroot, bacon, eggs and chicken, which they worked together to prepare.
