Almost 50 students from the region were in full dance rehearsal mode this week for the Victorian State Schools Spectacular.

Forty-eight students from Guthrie St, Murchison and Echuca East primary schools gathered for a final dance rehearsal on Monday with the event’s dance director Deon Nuku.

Mr Nuku said it had been great to watch the students progress since rehearsals first started in March.

‘‘From when we first started with them to now and we’ll see them in the arena — the confidence (has grown),’’ he said.

Guthrie St Primary School student Olivia Higgins, 10, put her name into a hat with 50 students and was lucky enough to be chosen to participate.

‘‘For a couple of years now I’ve seen older people do the spectacular and I wanted to do it,’’ she said.

Olivia had enjoyed learning the dances and was excited to perform in two weeks’ time.

‘‘I’m most excited to have fun,’’ she said.
