Mooroopna Primary School students performed classics such as Mary Poppins, Jungle Book and The Lion King at their annual concert last night.

More than 500 audience members crammed into Eastbank to see the students perform.

‘‘The students had been rehearsing for the past four weeks,’’ assistant principal and concert co-ordinator Karen Goodwin said.

‘‘They were all very excited and from all reports it was the best concert in years.’’

The show involved all 250-odd students from Foundation to Year six, with the school choir led by Katie Keller and the Year 5 and 6 band led by Lindy Tennant.

‘‘The concert is about working as a team,’’ Ms Goodwin said.

‘‘The students have to use their literacy, numeracy and performance skills to produce a toe-tapping show.’’

The staff also performed a song and dance to the film Zootopia dressed in animal onesies, having rehearsed in secret for some time.
