Mooroopna Secondary College students have banded together to perform in Adelaide.
The school’s music band has more than 40 students in it, playing everything from the drums to trumpet.
The group will set off for Adelaide tomorrow to play at different schools and workshop with the Australian Army Band, Regiment Navy Band and the Australian Navy Band.
The students will also perform at Westfield Tea Tree Plaza, Westfield West Lakes Plaza and aged care facilities.
Mooroopna Secondary College music conductor Lindy Tennant said students from years 7 to 12 were involved in the band and rehearsed every Tuesday.
In order to be able to go on the tour, the students have been busy fundraising by selling chocolate and doing performances.
‘‘We need to fundraise because it’s a significant commitment to the families,’’ Ms Tennant said.
The band recently had its final rehearsal, where students had the chance to practise hit songs such as ABBA’s Mamma Mia.
Year 9 student Jess Eldred, 14, sings and plays clarinet.
Jess said it was exciting to go to Adelaide and perform and this would be an excellent chance for her to explore a city she had never been to.
Ms Tennant said next time the school had a music tour, it planned to go overseas.
