Rural Victorian students facing financial or social challenges can apply for scholarships to help with TAFE study or apprenticeships.
Students aged between 16 and 24 can apply for the first state-wide round of the Rural Chances Vocational Scholarships, with more than $80000 available through The Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation.
The program aims to help fill skill shortages in rural and regional Victoria by helping students to complete their education and training to return to their local community with their new qualification.
Two types of scholarships are available.
The first, valued at $5000, aims to help young people move away from home or help with travel expenses to complete their qualification.
This scholarship also includes mentoring, leadership and networking opportunities.
The second scholarship, valued up to $2000, is to help purchase items including equipment, tools of the trade, materials, course fees, travel costs and other costs related to study.
Applications close on December 20.
