The school year could not start soon enough for St George’s Rd Primary School’s newest twins.
Zahar and Hussain Al Khateeb, 5, have been waiting for today since transition day last year, when an eager Zahar wore her new school dress.
The twins join 62 other Foundation students starting their education today.
Born in Australia, Zahar’s and Hussein’s family is of Iraqi descent and their mother Tagrid Al Khateeb works in family engagement for the primary school.
‘‘I really liked the school because it is very multicultural and there is a lot of support,’’ Mrs Al Khateeb said.
‘‘Zahar and Hussein are really looking forward to school.’’
Students Moslem and Atefeh Azizi, 6, along with brother Ali Azizi, 9, who were born in Iran, are also excited about the new school year.
St George’s Rd Primary School family engagement and early years transition co-ordinator Michelle Doyle has enjoyed supporting the new cohort of students on their journey into primary education.
‘‘It’s an exciting time for our families and we can’t wait for 2018,’’ she said.
