Goulburn Valley Grammar School had its annual Anzac Day service on Friday with all students gathering to pay their respects.

‘‘What we’ve been doing for the last five years is choosing a theme for each service,’’ humanities co-ordinator Darius von Güttner said.

‘‘This year’s theme was about honouring Australia’s peacemakers.’’

A handful of Year 12 students presented a piece of research at the service outlining Australia’s history in peacemaking, starting in Indonesia in 1947.

‘‘Students had about 10 minutes to speak and each put together a visual tribute of Australian soldiers’ involvement,’’ Mr von Güttner said.

‘‘We were able to mix our education curriculum with our usual mark of respect.’’

Mr von Güttner was extremely proud of the students who took part, with many receiving letters and emails from the RSL.

Yarrawonga-Mulwala RSL Sub-branch president Ian Summers, secretary Brian Cossar and other veterans also attended the school’s service.
