On June 10, I was lucky enough to attend Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne for the first time.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere; so many people expressing themselves fearlessly. There were people dressed up in cosplay showing off their talent while supporting their fandoms.

I personally dressed up as a Shadowhunter from the City of Bones books/Netflix series and later I was able to watch Katherine McNamara — who plays the main character, Clary — as she spoke about the series.

I also got to watch the The 100 panel that featured Christopher Larkin (Monty Green) and Tasya Teles (Echo), as they discussed the up-and-coming fifth television season of one of my favourite books.

I really enjoyed walking around the stalls and witnessing all the creative artwork on display.

I had such a great time being around people who all have similar interests and I look forward to Shepparton’s own Nerdmania in July.

Jessica Eldred is in Year 10 at Mooroopna Secondary College.
